This is my entry into this weeks ASW Black and White contest. These are photos of the inside of an abandoned sugar mill on St. John in the Virgin Islands. This area was a slave plantation that manufactured sugar in the 18th century. The p[hotos were taken with an infrared camera. Infrared photos make great black and white productions because of the capture of high contrast images. The original images come out with a slight bluish hue to them, so these were desaturated to black and white.

Thanks.. the plantation was established in 1718 , but this section of the windmill was built between 1810 and 1830.
