Impressions from Prague - Part3 [Lomography]

in #photography7 years ago

Dear friends,

here comes the final batch of my lomographic impressions of the Czech capital Prague, which I visited in Winter 1996/97. One of the greatest features of the Lomo LC-A camera is the automatic exposure.

Exposure is completely automatic when the camera is set to "A"; the shutter speeds range from 2 minutes to  1⁄500 s. [...] The automatic exposure system compensates for changes in light levels after the shutter is opened by increasing or decreasing the shutter speed.

One of the most amazing long exposure shots was made by my friend Mirko, who was with me in the St. Vitus Cathedral:

I like this kissing pair in the middle so much. They were freezed in this moment, while only a few people noticed. Maybe the girl just accepted the guy's hand in marriage? I guess, they'd already known where the wedding ceremony should take place.

There were several small stairways like this in the historic district. Notice this archway in the background.

Prague has some amazing architecture, even some cubistic buildings and a "Dancing House".

This is me in front of the Dancing House (again shot by my friend).

Some snowy boats at the Vltava River.

Me again. I don't know if the bridge in the background has a name, cause Prague has lots of them. This might be a railway bridge.

Back in the Metro. I don't want to withhold this shot, because I really like it in all its blurryness.

In the evening we went out for New Year's Eve. Not every angle of the city was crowded. So I was able to notice the historic pavement.

We went to a club...

...that looked like a small cave.

Shortly before the turn of the year, we climbed one of those stairways again...

...and feted near the Prague Castle when the new year began. We drank lots of Becherovka and we had the best time of our lives.

I hope you liked this small time-travel to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

If you did, you might want to check out part 1 and part2 of the series.

Thanks for watching!

Passivity is over

:-)

Thanks so much, Alan! I'm kind of relieved. "Passivity is over" would also be a great song title...

Sound more like a movie title: -)

"Passivity is over baby"

Lol :-) Great gif: "I'll be back when I phone home".
How about this?

I really love the pictures! Especially the kissing couple in the church; Great timing. But also the subway one, and the stairs one I really love. Enjoy Sunday afternoon!

Thanks a lot for letting me know! The church photo is my favorite, too. Have a great sunday :-)

Prague is amazing and I absolutely love it. Good thing I live only 200 km away.

Your photos are superb. Love that special lomographic look

Thanks a lot! I really love this Lomo-look, too. Will have to buy me another Lomo, cause I unfortuantely gave mine away... And then I will have to revisit Prague and see the magic again.

Well, I see you were there 20 years ago... you will hardly recognize it, when you go back!

Really? Hopefully the spirit hasn't changed too much...

There are at least 10 times as many people and prices have gone up significantly. A lot more is renovated and a ton of new restaurants opened up. Also a lot more shops...

You still find the old and mysterious, just have to go a bit further now

Hmm, seems to be the way thing go...
I will have to watch out for the mysteries then ;-)
Thanks for preparing me!

These are some incredible pictures and details! I loved your work! I hope you will continue to share more such posts in the days to come!

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm happy that you like my post!

I just recently rediscovered those analog gems and I'm going to share more stuff like this as soon as I'm able to scan it.

Sehr schöner Post. Ich bin ja auch ein riesen Pragfan :-)

Vielen Dank @lichtblick! Ich war bisher nur das eine Mal dort, aber seitdem bin ich auch Fan ;-)

I read Prague and as a photographer I see Josef Sudek ... No chance to meet him in person.
Did you visit his house?

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to visit his house... and I must confess, that I do not even know very much about his work. Another reason to visit Prague again. Thanks for bringing this up!

A little bit more about the 'poet with camera':

Wow! Vielen Dank für das Video. Habe gleich mal reingeschaut und finde es sehr spannend. Werde mich auf jeden Fall nochmal intensiver mit Sudek beschäftigen.

Schön wenn ich einen Anstoß geben konnte ;)

I really love prague, it is one of the nicest citys in europe, i have spend three times my holiday there and i will travel again there next year. I really enjoyed it, it were my best holidays there i ever had.

Thanks for your comment! I've been there only once, but it was amazing. Will have to go there again after rediscovering all those great memories. Glad, you also like the city.

Long exposure shots at it's core :) Great collection dude, i am sure it is a joy to go through those analogue slides from time to time :)

It's really lots of fun and i wonder where all the time has gone... Thanks for your feedback!

All the time probably went into those slides mate. No other way to track it :)

These are really incredible shots there thanks for sharing them loved it :D

Thanks a lot for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed them ;-)

Breath taking pictures. I surely would love to see more of Prague. Lovely work.

Thanks a lot! Part of my intention was to get more people notice the beauty of the city :-)

Prague is amazing place, especailly this Castle. :) nice photos

I second that! Thanks for your feedback ;-)

interesting technique, love the visual effect and use of design.

Thanks! It's mostly the camera in low light conditions, that makes these amazing visual effects.
