Cougar Mountain in Zion National Park

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

This is a very high resolution image of Cougar Mountain in Zion National Park.  The large canyon on the right is the North Fork of the Virgin River and the main entrance into the park. Click on it to go full screen and soak in the full view!

In this image are numerous iconic locations; The Altar of Sacrifice, the Eastern and Western Temples, Church Mesa, The Sundial, The Sentinel, Mount Kinesava, The Guardian Angles and the Inclined Temple. Here is a great article on Zion and its landmarks for your enjoyment.

Zion is a magical place to visit, and even more so when exploring the wilderness areas around it in a bush plane. It is one of the most incredible places I have ever seen from up here. I lensed this image while exploring the area just west of Cougar Mountain and this image is part of a large straight-line panoramic image that covers the entire park.

This is another image from my ongoing project in which I am trying to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.

Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing locations that surround us.
