Lake McDonald sleeps peacefully in the early evening sunset as soft alpenglow colors grace the mountains in the distance.
Lensed just a few days ago while exploring the wilderness around Glacier National Park and the Flathead River below the Flathead Mountains, this is a landscape of two countries.
The hill in the immediate foreground to the right is the western part of Belton Hills and on the left are the mountains of the Smoky Range. Lake McDonald is peaking out from behind the Belton Hills and across the small Apgar Mountains in the center of the valley are the mountains of three different ranges; Dutch Ridge, Logging Ridge, Quartz Ridge, Numa Ridge, Park Ridge, Starvation Ridge and then the Boundary Mountains.
Across the valley in the short distance is Canada, hence the Boundary Mountains. So I am flying in Montana in the USA looking across the valley into Canada. You think the Grizzly Bears that roam around all over here know there is a border?
This image is from my ongoing project in which I am trying to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.
Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing locations that surround us.
If you are interested in helping with this project I would love to have your assistance! Please consider upvoting and resteemit so that others may experience these wondrous places as well.

Amazing shot :]
Thanks for this! You do the great things!!!
Your skyscapes are just unbeatable.
Personally, I don't think that the bears care if there is an international border or not. Too bad people feel inclined to do so...
