Had to make a little change to my solar powered pump

in #photography6 years ago

I recently built a pump that uses my AC water for whatever I want. I built it in the fall of 2018 and it's been out in the elements for the last few months.

It would seem the zip tie holding up the component box has failed. Probably the plastic got brittle from getting frozen on some days.

I loosened the ratchet straps holding the box to the barrel. Got the old zip tie out of there that was already broken.

I happened to have some cord I've used for camping. worked well and I keep so much paracord on me I dont need to worry about this more basic stuff.

I fastened the cord to the metal brackets. Tied them down and cut off the excess.

Hopefully this will last for awhile. And looking forward to the spring and summer to try out its utility. Since I built it in fall most of the humidity was over, so I could not recover much water at the time.

Thats so cool that you know how to do all that.

@cosmiccrimes thanks, I am glad I was able to fix it. I'm just glad I have not had any electrical issues with the pump so in happy.

Interesting and I'm surprised.

@ludmila.kyriakou I was suprised too.. guess the freeze breaks plastic.

@solominer I think the plastic was very full, therefore.
But maybe I'm wrong.

@ludmila.kyriakou it has enough water in it to keep it weighed down. But since it's the winter I dont keep it filled.. dont need the water and the freeze would break the barrell.
