Alexandria Gothic
This photo was taken from the upper window of a hotel I frequent Alexandria, Egypt. Ancient mysticism, philosophy, and cosmopolitanism linger amid the decaying facades of faded but glorious architectural marvels of the King Farouk era.
I keep coming back to this view.
"Life is a journey up a spiral staircase; as we grow older, we cover the ground covered we have covered before, only higher up; as we look down the winding stair below us we measure our progress by the number of places where we were but no longer are. The journey is both repetitious and progressive; we go both round and upward."-William Butler Yeats
I would love to go to Alexandria one day! :)
It is indeed a very special city! I will post some more photos soon. I am a perhaps a little biased though as my partner is Alexandrian. The aura there is spectacular with good food, excellent museums, and breathtaking architecture.
Wow! Fantastic photo! Black and white give make it more atmoapheric, cool :)
Thank you! I will definitely be sharing some more of the city!
