Went to Methodist Hospital in downtown Indy to get my hand checked out at the Indiana Hand Center offices. Met with the Dr. and he suggested a customized splint and cortisone shots. I am leaning more towards Prolotherapy instead. Diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the basal carpometacarpal joint. I do not want the cortisone shots and when I mentioned Prolotherapy he had no idea what I was talking about. The thing about cortisone shots it only decreases the pain for a few months and then when the pain returns ( far more painful than it was before the first round of cortisone shots ) they want to give you some more cortisone shots . And repeat until it will never heal . This is my opinion of the cortisone shots. I did go ahead and get the customized splint .

Prolotherapy for tennis elbow and he was impressed with the results and has been pain free of the tennis elbow now for over 12 years. To get the Prolotherapy I will have to go elsewhere and my man has been to https://www.caringmedical.com/ and had

The basic mechanism of Prolotherapy is simple.
Prolotherapy solutions are injected into your painful areas to begin a reparative action.
The injections create a localized inflammation triggering the immune system to create the building blocks of ligaments, tendons, cartilage and bone.
Comprehensive Prolotherapy through a series of injections REBUILDS the joints from within.

If you have never heard of Prolotherapy you can learn more about it at : https://www.caringmedical.com/prolotherapy/
