Grandad

2017-08-09 20.30.05.jpg

Earlier today I popped in to see my Mum & Dad and was surprised to be shown a picture of my Grandad who I had never seen a picture of before.

Sadly my Grandad passed away in 1952 at the young age of 48 when my Dad was only 14 years old.

At the age of 14 my Dad was the eldest of three boys and was 8 years older than his twin brothers.

It was canny to finally see a photograph of my Grandad.

Thanks for letting me share this special moment with you and thanks for reading.

Stephen

I can finally see how the good looks were passed down the generations and they still live in with you! haha
I'm sorry to hear that your Grandad passed away while you were so young. It must have been devasting and I send you my deepest condolences.
Thanks for this exclusive share Stephen

I never knew my Grandad. He passed away in 1952. My Dad was only 14 years old. This is the first photograph I have seen. ;) ;). Stephen

Memories last forever , that's why we should always cherish little things . Photos always tell a thousand words @stephankendal

Thank you. Seeing a picture of my Grandad for the first time has simply been amazing. ;) ;). Stephen

I haven't ever seeen my grandparents ever and when I went back home last year , I brought a picture back of them , it truly feels good .

Thanks Stephan , Steem on !!

This experience for your father must have impacted him greatly as well as the rest of the family. My own father was 17 when his dad passed away. It's been a hard thing to talk about for years. Early departure from this life is never an easy path for those that remain.

It was. In 1952 when my Grandad died my Dad became the man of the house. At the young age of 14 he carried a huge responsibility to support my Nana and his two younger brothers. My Dad is an amazing guy. Stephen

This is an amazing photo, I love old photographs. And I can definitely see some resemblance :-)

Thank you. My Grandad was a handsome chap ;) ;) ;). Stephen

Wow! It's incredible to see the similarities between you two!
I love family histories. They're the untold stories that people shouldn't forget.

Thanks Josh. Quite often my uncles said that I looked like him, but I never recall my dad saying I did. You can imagine the moment I saw a picture of him I nearly passed out..!! At first I thought my dad was playing some kind of a joke and had an old photograph of me changed. It was so uncanny. It took me a few minutes to realise that is wasn't me..!! Stephen

You could get the picture colorized and framed. Did you get the opportunity to meet your maternal grandad even though your father's father passed on so young? Thanks for sharing the picture. Sorry about your loss. In 1952 being widow must have been rough for your grandmother. I have a feeling that she was very resilient and that stays in the family for generations! Frame the photograph, preserve it and it may it cultivate a stronger sense of identity for your kids.

Sadly I never knew my Grandad. I will be cherishing the photograph for the rest of my life. Stephen

Fantastic, you are very like your grandfather!

Thank you. When I saw the photograph earlier I had no idea just how much I looked like him. I have grown up never knowing what he looked like. :) :). Stephen

This is a stunning photo, I like old photos. Must be your father someone who is very concerned about his family should try by itself to change the position of your grandfather at a young age, thank you for sharing
