Red Bush Apples (Syzygium suborbiculare)

Fruiting in the Wet Season they are tart with a big seed and not a lot of flesh. The green ants seem to be enjoying them. When flowering these trees are important for native bees and sugar bag production

Red Dye plant (Haemordorum coccineum)

This is the red dye plant which now happily flowering out bush.

The red bulbous root is chopped or crushed and then boiled to make red and brown dyes. The juice of the reddish purple fruit is used to make purple dye.
