As it turns out, the problem was never the snow.
The problem was the heavy rain mixed with the angry, heavy snow, with temperatures falling below freezing, and turning everything to ice.
All of the schools in my area closed for the day due to the slick, treacherous, early morning commute. I was awakened at 05:00 with the apologetic message from my youngest's principal; we only learned of my oldest's school closing by checking the website of the local news.
Well, free day for the kids (so they think, and a day where I have to do no driving (so I hope). Perhaps I'll pick up were I was last night, deep into my sketchbook, drawing the things.
All photos are mine.

My kids also had snow days (yesterday and today). Annoyingly my youngest son's school only closed yesterday afternoon, it was open in the morning. We kept him home all day anyhow as we live quite far from the school and the roads around us were hideous in the morning already. I was so looking forward to spring too!
Spring will be lovely. I'm so tired of snow.
