Last week I purchased my first ever Macro lens the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS. I have been interested in macro photography for a while now but never felt the urge to splash out the $$$ just for a macro lens...
As of next week I will be heading to New Zealand to shoot weddings over summer so have upgraded my kit (post coming soon on new Sony gear) to suit wedding photography. After some research I found out this lens is one of Sonys sharpest native prime lenses so sold some other lenses to make room for this beauty.
Attached to my new A7RII this lens performs much better than I expected. Shooting Macro with 42mp lets you capture so much detail and I am able to crop and zoom in without loosing much image quality at all.
So I thought I would share my first images I captured with my new Macro lens that I took in my back yard only minutes after receiving the lens from the mail man haha. New Favourite lens for sure!! Check the bokeh!!
I was trying to capture a fly on this green leaf when this spider came out of nowhere to grab some lunch! Made for a pretty cool pic I thought. Thank you nature.
I hope you enjoyed my photos and if you have any tips or tricks to macro photography please share them with me in the comments below :)
Nice catch (for the spider too). I'm sure you'll have great fun with that new lens. Macro opens up a whole new world.
Yeah it sure does. Totally different perspective. Loving it so far :). Love your work!
I bought my new camera a few weeks back and had some great fun using it so far (olympus om-d EM10II)
and since we are going to new zealand in december I really want a macro lens to take with... but spending another 500 for the lens isnt in "scope" this month
Oh that's a nice camera. Yeah with so many lens choices it's hard to just pick one but I would say do it :) Might see you around NZ then!
Great photos and a great lens I'd like to own one of this :) @sunsurfsoul
