RE: EARLY SUMMER WILDLIFE!

in #photography7 years ago

Thanks for the post :-) I prepared a few facts about white-tailed deer:

  1. Only male deer grow antlers, which are shed each year. In rare cases, female whitetail deer can grow antlers due to abnormally high levels of testosterone.
  2. A whitetail deer can run at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, and swim at speeds of up to 13 miles per hour.
  3. They love to eat acorns, grasses, leaves, crops like soybeans and corn, berries, twigs, fungi, fruit, and nuts.
  4. "White-tailed" refers to the white underside of the deer's tail, which it displays and wags when it senses danger.
  5. A young deer is called a fawn. An adult male deer is called a buck. The female is called a doe.
