Hi, Steemit!!!

This Tuesday I want to show you a tree with roots as an octopus.

These are ficuses. At us in Israel it is a lot of ficuses both by quantity and by kinds. Ficus is a genus of evergreen plants belonging to the Mulberry family. Why are the ficuses similar to octopuses? :) The plant forms additional air roots that reach the ground and grow into powerful column-shaped supports for the huge tree crown.

Many species of ficuses are useful plants. Some of them even edible. In the rain forests, the fruits of the ficus are the main part of mammalian and bird feed, the leaves and the wood for insects.

I hope you like the ficus :)

Never saw them so big, for we just have them as small indoor plants.
