My village and grandma's farm

in #photography7 years ago

Hello everyone!

Today I’ll talk to you about my village Zenica and grandma's farm. Zenica is located near the town of Pljevlja in the north of Montenegro. It's the place where I was born and where I spent most of my childhood.

I have a huge family with whom I lived there as a child. Now only my grandma lives there, and we love to visit and help her in daily work. Although she is 70 years old, she continues to work on maintaining her farm daily.

She's doing it all for us. Thanks to her, our family feeds mainly on the healthy food she produces. Some of the products she produces are: cow's milk, cow's cheese, cow's yoghurt, goat's milk, goat's cheese, goat's yoghurt, vegetables (cucumber, tomato, lettuce, pepper, onions, beans, grass, etc.) fruits (apples, pears, plums, strawberries, etc.), almost all flesh products from pigs, cows, chickens and goats. She also makes home-made beverages such as fruit juices and alcoholic beverages of crochet and plum called "rakija" on Serbian. My grandmother also has bees from which we get honey every year.

Of course, it takes a lot of work and effort to keep the farm. Although we urged grandma to reduce the scope of work, she did not want to hear about it. She says she's used to working all her life and fighting and creating for her family and she's enjoying it. I trust her and I am incredibly grateful for it. She's my favorite person and she's my role model through my whole life.

My grandma has a goat who recently gave birth to three little goats. When the goat does not have small goats, Granny mowers the goat every day for two times. So she gets milk from which she later produces yogurt and cheese. Now that the goat has little goats, they drink milk, and the grandma does not want to mares her.

A few years ago grandma had four cows. Now, because of her age, she can only take care of one. In the summer, cows are taken to the grazing area to grab the grass. To survive the winter it is necessary to collect enough hay over the summer. We help her every year because it is one of the hardest jobs on the farm.

Granny mowers cow every day for two times, as well as a goat. The process of making cheese and yogurt from goat's and cow's milk is very similar.

Grandma also has chickens and cock. Chickens produce eggs daily and cock is there to take care of them.

There are both a dog and a cat. The dog is called Čupka, which means hairy in English.

Cat still has no name because she recently became a member of the grandma's farm. They agree well, although this is not expected for a cat and a dog. Sometimes they argue about sharing food, which is normal.

In addition to other jobs, it is necessary to save the wood for the winter. It's an extremely difficult job.

For the end, I took out some photographs of the details around the house.
