Qurator Photo Quest - The Blue Hour

I saw that the Qurator group is hosting a photo quest for blue hour photos and I thought since i have many of them I should enter so this post is just that

If your not aware of the term Blue Hour, its the period shortly before sunrise and after sunset, when the sun's position just below the horizon produces those cooler and hence bluish tones, I am often out walking well before the sunrise and hence and have seen many a blue hour.

Let me start with this shot looking over the water and beside the Hurricane barrier wall, lovely cool blues in the sky and some nice reflections on the water

This next image is from a morning walk around Fort Taber, out on the pier looking back into the park, another spot I often take morning walks,

Still in fort Taber Park, the previous photo was at the end of this pier, this one is beside the pier, often when I visit this park, I start with walking out on the pier, and then walk along the beach, before looping around the park itself.

This next shot is a mid point in the Hurricane Barrier wall which you can see on the left, in the early morning the water is so still and stands out even more mirror like with a long exposure image

This next and last shot is strictly speaking I guess closer to sunrise and some golden colors coming out in the sky, this was taken at Jones Beach in Dartmouth MA

The term 'blue hour' is something new to me. I've only heard of the golden hour. This is definitely interesting. And maybe because I'm not aware that such thing exists, I couldn't remember seeing one. Will be more mindful from hereon and hope to see one soon. 😊

Man! This photo are nice.
I will still have to make research on how the blue color come about.
I’m speculating that it’s because of the sea around.

That explanation about the sun behind the horizon and all sounds like rocket science.

I will make sure I make the research today.

The ocean is a part of the blues of course but as I said in the post When the sun is below the horizon just a little the cooler colors come out

Oh, your blue hour is Beeee-you-ti-ful! You never fail to wow me with your mornings.

The leading lines run me all the way to the other side. A wonderful shot... I was so torn between the first and last shot for my favorite.
