ANTI-TECH kids are still out there, Happy Lohri from India.

Kids these days. Gosh. I am prety sure whether its India or America, kids are totally into Tech and smartphones. Keeping kids in home has become easier as most of them are more interested in indoor world of technology of some sort or another, rather than outdoors.

I live out of town and i always used to think, the case is similar with my hometown street kids until today when i spotted them outdoors. I travel to my town on weekend sometimes to meet my parents and have some rest. I was s on the couch in evening when i heard really loud music from outside and i rushed to see whats happening.

There was it, the celebration of Lohri :

What is Lohri?

Lohri is an Indian festival to celebrate the last coldest days of winter. But contradictorily winters last till end of february, thanks to global warming and other environmental factors for change of season cycles. As part of celebration, fire is put up, people gather and dance around fire. Tow kind of snacks called, Rewdi and Mungfali are eaten upon and there is particular rhyme 'sundari-mundari' that is sang along with dancing.

I was surprised to see the kids outside, and celebrating, here is how the celebration looked like :

The dhol men :

Dhol men are wandering all over streets to play dhols wherever they spot a celebration and earn some money, here they were, they got 1$ to play the dhol for about 15 minutes.

Although there was a modern touch put up by the kids :

The giant speaker which was used later on to play indie and punjabi music on which the kids danced : (generally we are supposed to sing a rhyme sundari-mundari) 😁😁

The modernised snack with popcorn tubs and candies (it is supposed to be Rewdi and mungfali): 😁😁😁

Later on, i asked my mother about the kids. She told me they are regular kinda street kids, they play cricket in the park as well, its just i donot go out at all and do not kbow them. As usual i got scolded by my mom for being into phones and laptops all the time, proving i need to be anti-tech at times.

I hope my post gave you some insight into our Indian culture and the indian kids.

With love :
