RE: Need a Lens Suggestion for EDC

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

If you don't need to go too wide I would suggest a 24-70mm/2.8 by Sigma. It is my "always with me lens" - small, light and sharp enough it is perfect for landscapes and for portraits. It is just as sharp and flexible as the Canon version but half the price.

You will need to move around more than with your current lens but it is not a major issue. Also be careful if you are taking closeup portraits as it can make people look a bit goofy at the low focal end due to the perspective but you can reduce that by making sure you shoot level to the face - step further back, or simply just go to the max focal length for those type of shots.

If you don't want to spend that much and want something that is super sharp and affordable a good prime would be my recommendation - they are even lighter and more portable.

You can't go wrong with the Canon 50mm/1.8 or 50mm/1.4 if you can stretch to it. If you are into portraits then the Canon 85mm/1.8 is perfect (although not as cheap as the 50mm/1.8 obviously).

DM me in the chat if you want more advice I love talking about lenses.

I just bought this Nikon 16-35mm/F4 to use for my landscapes:)
