Snow - A less frequent occurrence

in #photography7 years ago

This past weekend in the Western Cape, South Africa we experienced some really decent rainfall and nice falls of snow

As anyone who has read my blogs will know these are much needed blessings

The scenery looks great, but it would be even better with a few snowmen.

LOL ... yes you are correct... but it was early and we had to set off for home....no time for play.

Strange to see sich snowy pictures when here were basking in July heat.

Thanks for stopping by. Never mind .... we have very long very hot summers here. We have been experiencing a severe drought here for a few years and still have strict water restrictions.

Very good shot with very heavy snow. Good luck always for you @themagus.

Thank you my friend.

Didn't realise you got snow in South Africa. I feel so ignorant. Yay for decent rainfall and snow anyway :)

You are super correct about the 'yay' part. Snow is not an every day event here.. We do get a little bit in winter on the mountain ranges.
I was thinking about you whilst walking back from the shop .... I may want to commission a drawing .. will give it some more thought and let you know.

Ahh glad it was about a commission, I had a moment of crap what have I done now?! XD I'm pretty busy over the next couple of weeks so take as much time as you need and yeh let me know :)

This is amazing @themagus! If you think of Africa, it's inevitable to think right away that the weather's gonna be hot. However, knowing that the Western Cape and Antarctica are "quite" close, it makes sense if there are snows every once in a while. 😃

Soon is winter back .... just some 4 month more :)))

I love winters. Here in Cape Town the summers are lonngggg, HOT and windy !!!

Here in Estonia winter can go -29 :))

eeeeeeek. that is bloody cold.

Not so bad... just first day it is cold... next day is ok :)))

the full nature scenery in blanket with the snow of its beautiful natural beauty and the fresh air @themagus

Lucky you! I love winters, but it dosen't snow in India

Thanks for stopping by. Snow is quite rare here and only on the mountain tops generally. We also have very long, very hot summers here. We are a winter rainfall climate so no rain in summer.

Wicked cool, in every sense of the word! I'm especially enjoying your snow shots today, as it's currently 95F/35C (with a "real feel" of 101F/38C) in my neck of the woods. And if you remind me in February that I was appreciating snow today, I'll deny it. 😊

Hope the weather continues to provide you with blessings!

I know the feeling ... our summers have almost permanent temperatures up there in the late 30's celsius and they seem to go on for ever. Are you also a 'winter rainfall' region or do you at least get thunderstorms now and again to relieve the heat and dryness?

I think I can best describe the weather here with this picture... 😂

Haha...I think you are describing Cape Town weather as well. The only place in Africa whete you can experience 4 seasons in a day.

Too funny! We say that about New England too. In fact, I downloaded this from some meme site ages ago...

LOL .... sums it up rather well ....

Waaait, wait, wait... it snows in South Africa? Why don't we have snow here in southern Brazil too? we're almost in the same latitude.

It's so cool, living and learning.

Hehe I was thinking the same as many others here! Really snow in South Africa!? I only know that country from the sunny images. show us more from SA covered in snow!

But what is it with the water restrictions and drought? How is the water management actually in SA?

haha now if he was feeling kinda down with Steemit, he's just found a lot to talk about. Come on!

Wonderful. Although I can just imagine how cold it must be.

This is beautiful. Here, everything is hot and hotter, except for the Andean Region. Hope I feel something like this someday.

103 degrees here. Wish i was there!
