Winter(sport) vacation - Obertraun, Austria

in #photography7 years ago

I just came across some photo's from a winter'sport' vacation in Austria from 2010. We stayed at a small Hotel in Obertraun which was called Haus Am See. This hotel was at a beautiful lake and surrounded by a few mountains. It really gave a beautiful look as you can see at the photo's down below.

This was the hotel, viewed from the other side of the lake

The roads were pretty dirty and salty. (but never slippery/snowy!)

Take a seat

And of course... the 'sport' part of the vacation because I took my snowboard with me.
The first day I went to something called Krippenstein if I remember the name correctly. You need to go up with a big gondola and when you get up you're presented with unprepped powdery pistes which were really great. The day that I went was very misty and it snowed quite hard so that always makes it more of a fun adventure.

I hope that you've liked the photo's. Be sure to comment, vote and/or resteem! :)

I think you were passed a great vacation and captured some demand full picture. really Amazing click

I think that it was one of the more memorable vacations that I've had. It was really beautiful there, and very peaceful and quiet.

nice view Austria is a great place for vacation

I totally agree. Visiting those little towns is great. I've only really been on vacation there in the winter, so maybe I should also check it out in Summer someday.

Wow! Simply beautiful

Looking back at this ... it really makes me want to visit it again.

Haha. I'm sure you do! It makes me want to learn how to ride a snowboard, just to have a reason to visit the mountains more often in winter time.

Just regular Snowboarding is not that hard to learn. You should give it a try. Snowboarding through the powder on a quiet mountain ... there's no feeling quite like it.

Looks like you had amazing vocation back then! There is something almost animalistic about these mountains. They look like huge, sleepy beasts.

Those colors are amazing. Especially with the reflections in the calm water. It's mezmerizing. We had a great view from our room.
