Something that can be challenging when transiting open oceans is being able to get enough sleep, to rest. At times the movement of the ship amongst the waves can be soothing and rock you to sleep. Other times you will be dramatically woken up by being thrown from your bunk onto the floor in the middle of the night.
During the latter, I always made it a mission to get up early and make my way to the bridge as we entered protected and more calm waters. Most of the time, I was not rewarded with what I hoped to experience with such an early morning rise. However, once in a while the sacrifice of a little more sleep was worth it when you are greeted with views such as these.
For those of you who have been lucky enough to experience the Antarctic Peninsula. This is the view as you enter Charlotte Bay in order to visit a site known as Portal Point.
