my first attempt to (street) photography

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

Yesterday I took my (still) new camera on a short walk around my neighborhood and took a few pictures I wanna share here with you. I went on a quiet way because I still feel a little bit uncomfortable on the street with a camera in my hand (weird huh?). That's also why I didn't tried to take pictures with people on it. But with time and practice that will probably change.. hopefully

I used the 7artisans 35mm f1.2 which is an equivalent to 53.55mm f/1.84 with fully wide open on a Sony alpha APS-C sensor. This lens is fairly cheap as well as the ND filter I bought it mainly for recording videos but of course I use it to take photos as well. I am really really new to photography with a system camera and I am learning a lot about photography and editing in post. For the editing part I searched about free alternatives to lightroom and I found darktable pretty good and easy to use for me as a bloody beginner.

I have to say that this lense & filter combo has an unique vintage touch. The sharpness and distortion is definitely noticeable compared to my other 2 lenses (Sigma 16mm & Sony 38-135mm) but I like this style. Enough waffling around - here are some pictures (all with ISO 320 f2-6 1/250)

I always thought this view is photogenic

I am living in such a house on the right

this cute ghost is everywhere in Hamburg and I love it so much

here he is again on the backdoor of my commonly visited supermarket

this is the view of a parking lot I use fairly often

I guess a shutter of 1/320 is pretty extreme for this type of weather and I can work on that to avoid using my cheap ND for photos in future. I like the focal length and like mentioned the vintage touch this lens delivers. Plus the 7artisans is so tiny that the full setup fits perfectly in a pocket of my jacket.

I will publish way more pictures here on Hive and document my development on this exciting art. Thanks for tuning in and your comment as well!

Seeya!

Did you use a tripod? If this was hand-held then you have a pretty steady hands for 1/320 shutter speed.

Haha thanks! No I didn't took my tripod with me :P That would have been way more uncomfortable than I felt already :P I guess my previously earned video skills came in here ^^ Thx for your comment - I will use way shorter shutter in future for sure!

I have picked your post for my daily hive voting initiative, Keep it up and Hive On!!
