Hello and welcome back my Steemian friends to a new episode of TimTravels!
I don't know where to start. This year began pretty crazy, don't you agree? We just saw Steem rise by over 100%, Steemit is growing and while I wrote my 2017 review post I just realized how far Steemit has brought me in life.
One of the main reasons why I abandoned Facebook, Instagram and all the other platforms is that you guys give amazing feedback. Never before did I receive so many comments to my work than here. I found that comments are one of the greatest motivations to me. Some people are good at blogging, some at curating and others at commenting. For this reason, I decided to make a giveaway with every post from now on. The best and most creative comment wins 10 SBD!
As promised I went to Germany to get an impression of the famous German Christmas markets. I know Christmas is over, but it's still winter and it feels like 2017 was only a short hop behind us (I couldn't resist this awful try to make a bad joke)
This is by far my most favorite shot I took on this day. It shows how two worlds collide, you will notice the beggar with his dog on the right and all the people that evade him on the left. What would you do in this situation? Donate something since it's Christmas or just pass him without paying any attention since you don't want to support beggars that might be part of organized crime?
Characteristic tradition on Chrimstas is to decorate trees with lights and glitter balls. You will see these trees everywhere, you can't avoid them. And to be honest, why would you? They look fancy!
You will find crowded streets with thousands of people trying to find the perfect last-minute bargain. I never understood why people wait until the very last day until they buy their presents. It doesn't matter what you buy as long as it comes from the heart.
Another thing that particularly attracted my attention were these concrete blocks. They were placed all around the Christmas markets and formed a border. Those who followed the news know that there was a terrorist attack on a Christmas Market in Berlin in the year 2016. The attacker drove into a group of people with a truck and many people died. To prevent these kinds of attacks the police put concrete blocks to stop vehicles.
All in all the people I saw were very happy and enjoyed their time with their friends and family. Eating, drinking or just having a good time and celebrating together is what most people did. In tomorrows post, which will be the second part of this episode, you will see more pictures from the Christmas market.
I hope you enjoyed this episode of TimTravels and don't forget to follow me for more. In two weeks I will go to the Alps for skiing. Breathtaking drone shots and a little video will follow then. Furthermore, I am preparing my South Asia journey in March. I will visit as many different countries as possible. Let me know what you think about Christmas Markets and where you would like to travel next. Don't forget: the best and most creative comment will win 10 SBD!
Tim
Amazing shots man! Looks like you had another awesome time, great idea for extra reward contest for the coments, your probably the first one :D Steemit feels like a blessing every singe day more.
Thanks for sharing, have a wonderful day n' #keepsteemin! :)
Thanks buddy! In these great times it's important to share
No no Thank you buddy, so much! Steem On :) means and helps a lot<3
Germany is a beautiful country. Und wie Ich sehe sprichst du perfekt Deutsch. Die Weihnachtsmarkt Tradition ist sehr alt und geht möglichweise zurück zum 1200, und sie fing an in der Deutschsprachigen Region Europas.
@timsaid Hola, I must say your style of photography is plenty to keep a person like me hooked! I love photography. The lighting and frame on the Christmas tree ornament is perfect, really. Which intrigued me to look at all your other post in the search of more. This my not be your thing, but I think it would be great if you did a post just on 'how to sharpen your photography' or 'timsaid photography tips'. I think that would be fantastic! I'm always looking to get better, and like I love to say...there's always room for improvement. Thank you for sharing and sounds like your 2018 will be awesome. I'll be watching ;D Best wishes, - @splendorhub
Was living in Berlin this summer and had planned to stay for a year. I was looking forward to these xmas markets. Unfortunately I had to move home so in is bittersweet to see this post.

Nachträglich noch frohe Weihnachten, Tim!!
Thanks! Aber bin nicht so der Fan von Glühwein :D
NEWS: timsaid just got flagged by an angry mob of Glühwein bottles
Nice photos and nice place, I want to visit Germany in a closed future, in this 2018... I love Berlin :D

Writers step in, 10SBD is equivalent to about 80 dollars. Good
The concrete blocks were recently tested in Germany and they don't actually stop trucks properly. The test truck was accelerates to 50KPH and it batted away the concrete like it was nothing and kept going for long enough to kill some people. This is what happens when you don't enforce external borders. You end up with internal borders. By the time you have to put up barriers at freaking Christmas markets the terrorist already has the advantage as he is in the country and can freely drive his truck to any unprotected spot.
German Christmas markets are very beautiful, I would love to visit this country. I'm glad you enjoyed the time spent there and I wish you all the best in 2018!
Congratulations! I hope many more Steemians will start living the dream and continue inspiring us by sharing incredible adventures like these. I enjoy with what you share and your great shots..
Beautiful Christmas market shots. Looks like you didn't have much snow during your Christmas in Germany.
That would be cool to go on the Ferris wheel in Christmas (winter time). Did you get a chance to go on it?
It looks like you really enjoyed your Christmas in Germany, it reminds me of my birth country Poland since you can see the Christmas decorations and huge Christmas trees in every single town or city.
There are so many places I would love to travel and see, maybe one day I will be able to travel like you when I get rich from steemit He! He!
I would love to take my teenage boys and my husband to Poland since they have never been there and the last time I've been there was 10 years ago. My boys never have been in Europe to explore the beauty of European countries.
I really like the idea of Christmas markets because I love Christmas and you can really feel the Christmas spirit all around even if you are not there to buy things.
Looking forward to your tomorrow part 2 post.
The best part about travelling is to be exposed to different cultural practices, like seeing their markets being set up and trying new things. I've been living there for 2 years as my boyfriend is a German and we are living in Munich, the best market I love was especially the Christmas market with the warm mulled wine and roasted chestnuts but the best part was during Oktoberfest! The lively vibe with the warm and sunny weather was absolutely amazing!!
Looking forward for more of your travel post. Anyway, I am also a food and travel blogger. Check me out someday perhaps?
Great post.enjoyed this episode sir. i follow you.nice photo
There are more contrasting aspects in your photos, not just the beggar and the people avoinding them. For example people enjoying themselvs and the prospect of danger represented by the concrete blocks.
Very nice initiative with donating SBD man, you deserve great comments nontheless. Cheers!
I absolutely envy you. Thank you for sharing your story. I had the chance to visit Berlin twice last year and I was really amazed by this city.
@timsaid: Love your colorful photos about X-mas. They are really great.
In my country, we do not have X-mas market, only decorate some offices and some shopping malls. Actually, we have X-mas with hot weather ^^
Crying. Looks beautiful.
My dream has always been to spend a Christmas in such a beautiful place where Christmas sits. Where I live is increasingly depressing (venezuela)
Amazing pictures! Keep posting and traveling!
Christmas markets are a wonderful part of Germany's holiday tradition and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. Prepare for your mittens to get sticky with Glühwein and to actually enjoy chestnuts roasted over an open fire.
Awesome Christmas Travel post @timsaid!
I am going to Guatemala in a 2-3 weeks. Will be blogging each day for 13 days. Would you follow and support my travels here??
All the best!!
Hey man great post! I myself am from Germany and have been to many Christmas Markets myself however I moved country so I rarely get to experience them anymore. This post brings back a lot of memories :)
Amazing photos! Last year I have visited few Xmas markets in Dusseldorf and Cologne, and they were awesome. Unfortunately, I don't have so many great pics like you. I hope you tried Reibekuchen (it's something like fried pancake made of potato and onion). I've never tried that anywhere before.
But if I need to choose one memory from this trip of mine, it would be a bunch of Santas who drove their motorcycles around the Xmas market in Cologne. It was really an awesome scene.
Many thanks for sharing these photos! Cheers!
Beautiful shots ....beautiful night with all the beautiful images.
I hope your Christmas is good. Christmas was a happy time. I pray for you to spend your whole year in the joy of Christmas. Your pictures were alive, great.
Good post you fren. Nice pic

great chapter. the quality of the images is very much enjoyed
Spending time with families and friends is always an unforgettable experience highly relish by most persons.
I have enjoyed this very episode..it comes with a distinct picture to give..thanks @timsaid
I've always wanted to go to Germany, I think you picked the best time a year to go and enjoy all those beautiful lights for Christmas!
I hope you will make it this year. Please let me know how it was!
I recently went to a lot of the German Christmas markets from all the various cities and I loved the atmosphere! I think you captured it very well in your Chrispy Christmas shots!
Awesome travel in Germany, im excited to see the alps using your drone. Enjoy!
Thanks for another awesome post Tim. I love your photos to. They look very professional.
Are you paying for your trip in Steem? Looks very cool 😎 and cold !
Awesome shot wish you enjoyed it and happy new year
Xmas markets are fun, especially when we could pay with SBD!
But so far I didn’t find that market, so I kept my SBD to travel to steemcity.
Ich liebe den Weihnachtsmarkt! Und auch der Glühwein! 😂 Und das Essen! Und die Schokolade! Und die Lieder! A looot to love 😍 and yes i dont understand why people shop for Christmas gifts last minute. We dont really exchange Christmas gifts in Malaysia so i always find it’s exciting! Btw which Christmas Market is this? Is it the one in Berlin?
I was on holiday in Germany last year and I liked it a lot. Indeed, this year has begun pretty crazy :)
Anyway, I enjoyed your photos and I wish you health and happiness in 2018. Have a great year and a good heart. Hugs
Awesome photos!! :) If your in to cool photos you might like the Mountains our AI generated.
Thank you for your wonderful theme and the beautiful hospitality that we have brought with you in the markets of Berlin through these wonderful pictures . Actually I do not know why all people leave the theme of buying gifts to the last minutes of the year. Because of the crowded markets buyer . And your parents in the terrorist events witnessed by Germany at the end of the year 2016
i would like to take advantage of this opportunity and would like, through my comment, to condemn and condemn all terrorist attacks throughout the world .
As for the Steem currency, there was a significant increase at the beginning of the current year and predicted a great future for him in the next few months .
In terms of reward, give your thinking a reward for the best comment it is an interesting thing that deserves all greetings and peace .
I wish you all the best in the current year and in your life in general .
Awesome photos! feel like I’m actually there :) a cup of Glühwein would be great

This is awesome......... I would live to travel Germany among the places. The family wants to take back their Italian roots and become Italian citizens and move there. That would be a great way to see the rest of Europe.....
