35 km. Southwest of Heraklion lies the ancient town of Rizinia or Prinias, on top of a steep plateau. The area is wild and always windy, having little vegetation other than thorny bushes and wild thyme. The ancient road leads up to a small chapel situated on the very edge of the cliff, being a Christian building next to the ruins of the ancient Greek houses and temples, that date back to the 13th century BC.
