Hmm there is a lot of different kinds, some very expensive. If you own microsoft office theres a build in photo editor called Office Picture Manager that i used when i started editing and still use at times. Right now i am learning to work with Alien skin exposure but im not sure i will stick with it.
If you want check out my blog, i have some images there where i really went nuts with color, or even made them greyscale. Sometimes it works out, sometimes you have to start over, remember to make a copy of the original :)

You are most welcome, and everyone has different taste. I also know a lot of people who prefer the raw images so it is really down to personal preference :)
