After the communist coup in 1944, all property was nationalized, and after restitution in 1991, it was distributed back. But over the years, the owners have multiplied and impoverished, and no longer have the financial ability to maintain architectural monuments. Who does not know - there are certain requirements for the maintenance of such houses, which is much more expensive than for ordinary real estate.
In general, this is a short explanation of the situation, and now a little specifics.
