Why is Sofia so skinny

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

All the tourists, who come to Sofia for the first time, are surprised by the presence of tattered old mansions in the very center of the capital - they say it is very strange, because it is not aesthetic. Right. And I think so. But not the owners of these mansions. The fact is that all these houses were built in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. After the communist coup in 1944, all property was nationalized, and after restitution in 1991, it was distributed back. But over the years, the owners have multiplied and impoverished, and no longer have the financial ability to maintain architectural monuments. Who does not know - there are certain requirements for the maintenance of such houses, which is much more expensive than for ordinary real estate.

In general, this is a short explanation of the situation, and now a little specifics.

On the boulevard "Maria Luisa" a lot of interesting houses. Old ones Only the majority of them are in a very neglected form, because the owners can not share their ownership and agree among themselves.

For example, this torn house in the center of the photo and next to it is a new blue with white.

At first I will tell about the stripped.

Boulevard “Maria Louise” № 56 ”

This history explains why there are so many torn and "abandoned" houses in the Sofia center.

They are not abandoned - a problem in many owners.

The house on "Princess Maria Louise" No 56 was built approximately in 1900. It is known that the upper extensions were made in 1914 and 1928. Now 8 people live here from strength, and 80 people once lived. From 1945 there was a hostel, because the hotel construction, with toilets in the corridors, allowed it to be done. In the area of

the 60-80s, there was a restaurant "Bialoto agne". After the restitution, several apartments and the restaurant's premises were returned to the former owners, several other apartments were bought by the employees of the Fund.

There is no one to restore it ....

About the blue-white house.

Boulevard "Maria Louise" 58

That's how it looked before demolition.

This is a commercial and residential building of Isaac Arias. In 1978, the house was declared a cultural monument of local importance. That, however, did not prevent the investor from breaking it down completely and rebuilding it in its previous form. But, it is no longer a monument. However, it looks decent and the appearance of the city is not broken.

According to rumors, an investor from Greece.

That was such a hole after the demolition.

And here the blue and white house is completely new.

This is how you can determine in which houses there are several owners and if apartments are being sold there, then I do not recommend keeping to these proposals if you are not the “owner of Lukoil”. Then you can buy this house entirely, restore it and rent it to some bank or embassy for "mad thousands").

Thank you for your time and attention.
