Hi all,
These are a few images from my 10 day experience of the mahakumbh mela which happened in Allahabad, India in 2012
We, a enthusiastic bunch of photographers decided to go make a documentary on the nagas. The experience was something beyond we could have ever imagined.
It was overwhelming to say the least. So much, love, sadness, energy, faith, disappointment, brotherhood and all possible emotions and journeys of millions of people put together in a 35 Sq. Km. Area on the banks of the Ganga.
This mela happens once every 12 years. It's the largest congregation of humans on the planet.
These are some images from the thousands that I shot in those ten days. The memories are still fresh and I will visit every mahakumbh till I am alive.
Will have another post dedicated to the naga babas sometime later.

Thanks for tuning in.

Very interesting. I had heard of this gathering before but I had not seen so many pictures. I really like the first one.
Hi @eroche ,
The pictures don't do it any justice. Please try and experience it if possible. The next big one is going to happen in 2015. The one that passed by had over 30 million people taking a dip in the holy waters of Ganga on a single day.
You can read more about it at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumbh_Mela
Good vibes,
