Hello steemians!
I was torn between shelving this post or post it here anyway because, to be honest, I didn't like the photos as much as I liked the ones in the previous post. The reason why I decided to post it anyway is because I made a promise and I thought this would be a learning process for me. I realized that there are times when I don't like the outcome, but I should learn from those cases.

Welcome to the 18th edition of Kim's Quest! This post is more like a continuation of Kim's Quest #17. This is more of a blue hour and/or night photography.
Let's go!
Cebu City | Creative City by Design
This part of Discover Cebu series is about Cebu City, but not exclusively about the city itself. I think this post is aptly more about Metropolitan Cebu. It is the main urban center of the province of Cebu and is made up of three (3) independent cities (Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City), four (4) component cities (Carcar City, Danao City, Naga City, and Talisay City), and six (6) municipalities (Compostela, Consolacion, Cordova, Liloan, Minglanilla, and San Fernando). I hope I can showcase those cities and municipalities mentioned in my future posts. For now, let's talk about Cebu City.
Dubbed as "Queen City of the South", I'm sure Cebu City has something to offer to everyone who pays a visit. Cebu City has been recently included in the network of Creative Cities by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) under the Creative City by Design category.
This global recognition has been lauded by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and other cities were urged to follow the footsteps of Cebu and Baguio to be included in the list of creative cities. To be included in the list means that the city is considered an icon of sustainable urban development.
I got curious about this Network of Creative Cities and realized that media outlets here in the Philippines have been featuring this news since two weeks ago. It is said that cities included in the network are those that 'make culture the pillar, not an accessory, of their strategy'.
"The Network brings together cities that base their development on creativity, whether in music, arts and folk crafts, design, cinema, literature, digital arts or gastronomy." - UNESCO
The reason why I said that this post is not exclusively about Cebu City is because I think you can't separate Cebu City with the other component cities and municipalities in Metropolitan Cebu Area.
First, the main transport hub of Cebu is Mactan-Cebu International Airport which is located in Lapu-Lapu City. Second, the Cebu International Port is extended until Mandaue City. Lastly, the cities and municipalities might have different jurisdictions and local administrators, but they are closely coordinating with each other when it comes to development.
Sergio Osmeña Bridge
I am featuring Cebu City, but I took the photos from the Lapu-Lapu City side of Sergio Osmeña Bridge. That bridge was the first bridge connecting Mandaue City and Mactan Island. I featured the new bridge (Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge) in my previous post, so I think it's fair to feature the old bridge in this post.
The truss bridge has been in operation since 1973. Its construction started in 1970, a year after the ordination of Mandaue as a chartered city. The bridge was designed by all Filipino designers.
About 1.6 kilometers north of Sergio Osmeña Bridge is the new bridge which was featured in my last post. As I have said in my previous post, what I love about those two bridges is that they offer a panoramic view of Metropolitan Cebu.
While the mountains of Cebu offer panoramic city views, the view in the bridges is different. It's more of the opposite perspective of the views in the mountains. The mountains served as the background and it's much clearer because it's just within the city proper.
I guess that's all for this post. See you in the next post! It might be waterfall hopping in the south, beach vacation in the north, or camping in a grassland in a mountain barangay in Cebu. I don't know yet which will be next, but I'm sure all three will be featured in the coming days. Stay tuned, folks!
