Mérida, a paradise of cold weather, beautiful culture and endless mountains that attract the attention of any visitor. This is where my journey to the Paramo de la Culata begins. This landscape that is part of the Andes mountain range has a climate as cold as the heart of your ex but completely pleasant and beautiful.
In this opportunity, my journey took me to visit him and enter for a week in such a wonderful place.
The light of the mountain, the fog and the fauna and flora make this journey magical, presenting dreamlike images.
This area is a great place in the state of Merida and transmits the greatness of nature and of these Andean lands. Where the imposing mountains, lie like a sleeping giant dominating the landscape full of so characteristic greenery.
La Culata Moorland is an ecoregion of Andean moorland, in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Mérida, north of the city of Mérida, Venezuela. At an altitude of 4,173 meters above sea level, La Culata Moorland is one of the highest Andean moorlands in Venezuela. Source
The temperatures in this place can drop incredibly fast, which is why warm clothing is of paramount importance.
Sugar Loaf - 4680 meters above sea level:
Pico Pan de Azúcar (Sugar Loaf) is a prominent mountain peak located in Sierra La Culata in the State of Merida, and one of the highest mountains in Venezuela. From its summit and under clear climatic conditions, you can glimpse the prominent peaks of the Andean highlands and, occasionally, Lake Maracaibo to the northwest. One of the accesses to reach the base of the mountain is through the Condor Reserve in the Mifafí valley, which has in captivity some specimens of this great Andean bird. Source.
After several days of hiking, camping in the designated places and nights of cold, very cold, we finally arrived at our destination. The Sugar Loaf peak is one of the most climbed peaks in the meridella zone and it is the previous step for those who want to enter high altitude climbing in the country, being 240 meters lower than the well-known Humbolt peak.
Undoubtedly for me this was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I could not do more than photograph it, which is why I leave this collection of images for the enjoyment of the entire steem community.
