Rapai Gerimpheng is a blend of playing musical instrument that is rapai and poetry. This reach is like a tambourine, but the size is bigger. Because of its large size it is very hard to lift, so when playing rapainya placed on foot. While the verse is usually led by one of the Sheikh, then the poem is also sung back by other players. Rapai Pulot Geurimpheng is played by players as many as 12 people, eight people serve as a drummer and dancer called aneuk pulot, while three others, serves as a herd and one other person as a poet or called syahi or Syeh.
In the performance of Rapai Gerimpheng is a blend of music that comes from the beat of Rapai that is in harmony with the energetic dance movements. Achieving gerimpheng consists of several innings that begins by greeting by raising the hand simultaneously to the audiences called Saleum Aneuk Syahi, followed by a sacrifice, followed by cakrum or Saman, followed by a dynamic and heroic movement simultaneously with a rawan beat that is called behavior, the next section is called the story where the poem used contains the messages according to the performance event and the sixth or last part is called the gambus.
Rapai Gerimpheng has now been established as a non-object cultural heritage by the state of Indonesia, since 2017, originating from Aceh and the location of its spreading in Pidie District. Even so, the spread of the art of music is now greatly reduced, it is because of the prolonged factor of Aceh conflict, resulting in the spread of this culture is very difficult. Post-Aceh peace with Indonesia 2005, the energetic art of music is re-developed by the region, so that in 2017 the country gives awards to the culture as a culture that must be maintained in the form of no objects.
Now, the development of the senin is very rapid, in addition to already starting to grow, local awareness has also revived the missing nyars tradition, including by providing a container where artists show their expression. So hopefully we can also support the progress, for the sake of the persistence of the tradition up to our children and grandchildren.
