This video shows how an incident charged particle (red) behaves near the Earth's magnetic field (blue arrows). The Earth's magnetic field was assumed to behave as a magnetic dipole, which simplifies the calculations. The video itself actually took 20 minutes to film, because of the mathematical struggle my poor computer had to go through. Keep in mind that this video was made for HD TV's, so it is strongly recommended that you watch it in 1080p.
