Linear Comping: contrapuntal comping inspired by linear drumming.
Fractal Rhythm Theory: extrapolation of mirror rhythms from harmony.
I always liked linear drumming, in which you never strike with more than one limb at a time (out of two hands two feet), so i've been playing around with that, not striking more than one note at a time...but then it also becomes "hybrid" as i can also use intervals, or chords, in each hand....and also between hands....so it can change from "strict" linear, to "hybrid" linear. the part that fascinates me the most is what comes out of the thumbs, when the hands cross: melodic bits i never would have thought up "on purpose" haha...the mathematical possibilities are quite fascinating, actually...
Fractal rhythm theory is something else i'm developing, working on some more technical videos about how it works, but the basic premise is explained in this article i wrote almost 2 years ago now:
https://kitwalkermusic.wordpress.com/2016/03/01/the-charm-of-impossibilities-why-music-is-magic/
but, no matter how "mathematical" it gets, it always gotsta groove, math with joy = aha! :-)
