Let me tell you about a dog...

Obedience was no master of hers. Expertise? getting her owner to take her out. A hopping frog was just too slow compared to her joy when listening to that jingle of her leash. It meant out to the world in that quiet suspicious mind of hers. A fearless walk into the crowd, eyes open wider when noticing her ruthless wiggle.
Owner would go from frightened to courageous in minutes. This would depend on the number of dogs living from block to block. Other dogs did not like her. Growling was all the thanks she would get for strolling her presence through the neighborhood. But no care she gave to any of them white curly hair dogs barking from their flowery balconies. She owned the whole street and that was somehow of importance. Though the leash got tight from every now and then it always became a gripping contest between both owner´s hands. They came home red either way but if owner and dog be happy, the goal was more than achieved.
Never violent, never a canine or claw on anybody. Nothing more she knew about than energetically play day by day. Any crippled stick thrown in the air was as amazing for her as fireworks in New Year´s Eve. Watching her run makes you think she with the race horses ought to be.
No food was ever safe though. Disappearing powder milk all the time if left inside a kitchen cabinet available to her height. Owner be pissed off but how you gonna complain? Victim had already been digested. That GPS in her nose was worth millions. Could not there be a frying part of a beef jumping in the pan before she was already asking for her share. Tail wagged so hard it hit you in the leg and you be remembering it ‘til the next day.
Stared so cute owner would grab her but there were lighter things to carry than that dog. No daring hurting your back when petting a dog is as healthier as eating fish…or powder milk…gots me wondering if it tastes better when stolen….
She responded to the sounds of m-e-d-u together in any tone given at any time of day and night. No food, no reward for coming at the speed of thunder, not even a miserable twig to throw for play, no nothing. You just said that word and she´d be peeking through whatever material, border, window, curtain, crack, anything. And she stay there. Enthusiastically waiting. Time would tell her to go away for she been tricked and after a while she would turn around but then regret made her come rushing back just to make sure if there was something. And sometimes there was something.
Almost her barking did people ever heard. She appreciated silence. She and quiet got along. So quiet her owner would sometimes sneak up on her just for the sake of curiosity.
And the day came. That day was the first of any January of any year. Sunny though. Meeeduu. Meeeedu? No paws coming. No nothing. It´s worse when you don´t expect the tragedy club be knocking on your door on a sunny morning first of January. But bad news don´t have respect for the holydays. Owner went looking for Medu. A stiff body was found. Poisoned. Laughter came from some neighbors.
