Here is 27 camera photos side by side review on the Google Pixel 3 XL versus Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The photos are mixed up using back side camera and front side (selfie side). The some photos taken in broad daylight and other in low light at night time. Some photos are taken using the bokeh effect which blurs the background but the subject in front is crisp and clear. Google calls this feature portrait mode (same as iPhones). Samsung calls it live focus for the back side camera and selective focus for the front side camera.
Which is your preference? I prefer natural and more detail so my overall pick would be the Google Pixel but this of course is a preference. Still both of these phones are great.
