The Problem of Plagiarism

in #plagiarism25 days ago

We have all seen this #plagiarism trend that has plagued other platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, and Instagram among others; people and spam accounts that won't think twice before copying and pasting other people's work as their own. It can be very discouraging for creators when there is a lack of respect and consideration for original works and for the time and effort that goes into creating them, When there are others that are just copying and posting their hard work.
I have to say that I hate to see this happen. I started a page on Facebook back in 2020 and I remember how time consuming it was to do the research, write the text, and create the image and thumbnail. It's an investment of time just learning to use Photoshop or Blender so that you can create original content. I know with AI now it is much easier, but even then it requires some imagination to translate your vision into a prompt for Chat-GPT and then compose something interesting with that image.
I worked about one year on my own on that page and was able to get it to 10K followers without paying a single penny to Meta for publicity. It was not easy, learning the trends, the right hours to post, the right places to share, the right people to engage with. It required a lot of interaction and building a relationship with followers, answering questions and joining discussions.
It was during this time that I saw a lot of plagiarism, lots of shameless duochebags stealing peoples work and getting lots of engagement out of it. The sad thing is that no one was doing anything about it, the platforms were silent on this and why wouldn't they it was still getting a lot of engagement on the platform and affecting only the creators.
I recently saw a thread on Inleo stating that someone had been copying and pasting other people's stuff as their own and I must say its very upsetting. I joined Inleo to be part of a better community of good and honest people and I'm sure I'm not alone on this. We have to do better! There is no value in copying other people's work, it adds nothing to the community.
Let us instead promote creativity and originality in everything we do here. Lets pressure and shame those who steal other people's work and post as their own. We can work on solutions to this problem now before it infects this platform. Lets think of ways to solve this. Lets leave #feedback on these issues and present good ideas, I'm sure it can be remedied, I'm sure we can figure something out.

Thanks for reading Lions, if you have any good ideas leave them in a comment. Remember to stay safe, stay strong and stay free.
