Some things I'd like to focus on in 2023 involving Hive

in #plans2 years ago

It's going to be a bit of a general list but for anyone wondering here's kind of a rundown on the things I think will bring a lot of value to the platform that I'd wanna be focus on and use my influence here and through OCD to continue work on this year. Keep in mind a lot of the things may be correlated to one another and I may not go into great detail about how I plan on fulfilling each of the roles but maybe it's something that may inspire others to do the same or assist with.

Onboarding

With OCD's current onboarding program I believe we have a good shot at scaling it up and continuing to see great progress in it. There's been some very dedicated onboarders so far in the program who've shown that using the tools we've provided it can be quite efficient to onboard people, guide them towards their Hive starting experience and make them become regular authors and participants in the network in more ways than just writing and socializing. A few communities from the Philippines, Venezuela and Vietnam have shown great engagement towards authors being onboarded and thriving on Hive, we notice this because even before our votes are cast upong their content its already filled with comments. This is what we love to see on Hive and after our onboarding period is over seeing them thrive on their own by using communities and growing a following let's us know that the way we have it set up is working as intended and can scale quite well to reward both the onboarders and give the onboarded users a kickstart in the Hive journey and stake.

We'd like to explore more ways to make onboarding easier and are working on some ideas that may require some funding to make reality. As always we'd like to start small, see if it works and then after mass-produce it at hopefully still manageable costs to both the rewards pool and relative to the size of our chain if it's funds we're requesting from the @hive.fund through initiatives such as @pettycash, etc. Most importantly we want to keep everything transparent in terms of costs and transactions but at the same time also value those spending their time actively looking to grow our ecosystem to compensate them fairly. More info on this hopefully soon as we fine-tune the process and get in talks with people who could get it going.

POSH

This is of course a big one as well, my hobby project that strives to drive traffic towards any and all front-ends on Hive with incentives to share #web3 content. One of the biggest things we'd like to do here is grow the posh ecosystem in terms of usecases for the base currency, then also work on the tokenomics a little more to make the token harder to acquire and potentially the price to be enticing enough for bigger influencers to gain and interest in joining and sharing their own or other's web3 content on Twitter and other platforms we'll include (currently working on Reddit).

We've yet to build solid plans of which route we want to take in terms of funding, we know we've worked quite cheaply in the past to make due with post rewards and we thank the community for trusting in us that those rewards will be used solely for what we've said we'd use them on as we understand that collecting rewards through automated posts is frowned upon but we're glad people have made an exception considering POSH is there to support the Hive ecosystem as a whole and reward participants fairly.

Long term we'd like to explore if we could receive funding from the DHF as there's some options that the post reward pool won't be able to cover if we're going to scale the project up but exact details are yet to be determined. We believe, though, that with our minimal working product we've convinced the community of the effects and value POSH is bringing to Hive and hope they continue to see it that way when the time comes.

More ideas and plans regarding POSH, and hopefully some new releases soon such as the long awaited POSH PETS to be shared with everyone soon. These things take time and manpower, unfortunately.

Communities

With communities we'd like to continue incubating and assisting them in rewarding participants and growing the niche the way we've been doing the past couple years, geared towards communities that are different enough and have a big demand currently in #web2.

We'd also like to help tokenize some of the communities in our incubation in the same vision as most of our activity has been (for instance POSH launch), through fair airdrops and solid plans so they'll stand out. We may possibly use the POSH "battle chest" to help get these started and in return ask for some tokens in exchange which will belong to POSH which eventually ends back to providing value for those sharing Hive and possibly the new front-ends of said communities.

With tokenized communities we also want to build bridges to allow investors from all over the crypto sphere to invest and participate in the success of said communities, not just content creators and curtors. Which is why we've considered having POSH be the "seed investor" as some of these plans may cost quite a bit but we wouldn't want it to go towards single people to keep the airdrops fair and speculators/investors interested. More plans about this soon.

Hive still maintains one of the best propositions and solutions to the issues of #web2, we're looking forward to be a big part of growth and distribution of stake in the near future. While the crypto market is still not sure of our existence we believe that the things we've worked towards such as scalability, cheap upkeep & startup and community-first oriented are one of the main strengths of Hive. Even if others can emulate what we do we know that they will choose not to because they either wouldn't want to give up the power of control or the potential of profits through unfair distribution.

Let me know if you have any questions about my future plans, if maybe you'd like to get involved and help out or if you're curious about what we do currently on Hive through accounts such as @ocd, @ocdb, @ocd-witness and @poshtoken. Thanks for reading!

WOOT, Thanks for giving Vietnam a shout-out!

I have been working on building up a Hive Vietnam community here for a bit, so it's nice to see it getting noticed. :D If you ever want to hold a HIVE Vietnam meet-up in Danang VN, hit me up; I can help organize it.

Also, let me know how I can lend a hand with graphics, logos, writing or something. The best way to reach me is on Discord. ( jacuzzi#5037 )

Thank you very much @acidyo
I'm very happy to be on Hive more than one year. I had a great journey here already.

I really like what you are don't with posh. Cant wait for pets and whatever else you have in mind. In the meantime, I'll keep buying here and there 🎉 As for usecases, have you explored integrating as a payment options with hive games like rising stars or dcity ?

We've been exploring things that would make sense for it to be used for, things like promotion or other similar ones. Since people earn it by promoting their or other's posts on twitter, thus promoting hive front-ends/hive it would make sense for it to be used towards promoting your own content, but we are in talks with some projects that are coming up to use them in a similar fashion there so it would "make sense" rather than just be one of many tokens anyone can use for anything.

One cool idea, which I think is fine if I share it here, was to use a POSH pet alongside your @actifit activity, i.e. if you own a posh pet doge and you're out walking with him you may earn some extra posh alongside your actifit earnings which would be a cool usecase for it.

Either way we're not too stressed about giving them usecases or want to rush into anything, time does wonders for distribution and holders, since we've started from a fair airdrop with no pre-mine things can't really go wrong unless you rush into something and do some decisions you may regret later. Most importantly we want it to do its main thing well and wide so integrations on platforms it can work on is still the main focus until that is as close as perfected and we can shift dev-power into the rest of the posh ecosystem.

I think OCD team that most clearly articulates the goals and objectives and I'm very pleased that you are continuing to do so. I enjoy being part of the team and if there's anything more I can help you with, you can reach out to me, my friend. I believe in the future of Hive and I'm willing to do anything to make it a better place. No, not in a sexual way.

Simplification of adaptation for new participants in the eco-system is an important point, many things that happen here are carefully weighed and calculated. Thanks to you and your team for developing the community, the incubation program is a really good idea that shows great results and attracts new members. Good luck with your work to develop the Hive, thank you for your generous contribution.

A nice roundup of information and lots of ideas to develop existing projects and create new ones.

From this point of view, Hive is flourishing, I believe that growth can be important and gradually become exponential, creating a sort of "compound interest" in the realization of many projects.

I'd like to make myself useful and as far as I can you have all my availability; luckily I'm also in a situation where I can devote enough time to Hive and that makes me happy.

I believe that we must all work together because unity is strength!

Interesting to read your plans.
I'll especially dig deeper in the onboarding point. Even though I joined Hive about 1 year ago, I never really thought about the fact of how other people came in here. So it's genious in my opinion that there are communities in certain lands who are actively onboarding people. Will definitely check it out!

I'm happy seeing Hive being amongst the goals of 2023 if we can call it like that. However, the chain itself is the right place where some dreams and goals can become reality :)

What is the difference between OCD and OCDB? What are they doing?

Not much in terms of curation, they follow each other to support the vast majority of authors we vet and curate. OCDB is unique cause it offers returns on delegations for passive investors who may not have the time to make use of their daily votes or want part of them to be used to grow the network and distribute stake fairly to those working hard to receive it from us. We offer returns to big and small accounts but of course prefer that smaller ones use their influence to grow their audience instead - so it's mostly for those that don't have the time and trust it will be used well.

We also do curation reports that highlight the amount of votes we distribute on a monthly basis on the @ocdb account if you're interested to check it out.

I am interested in that, but I want to wait until next power up to have the extra Hive that I need to delegate.

We're happy to have you, just keep in mind that returns take 7 days to get started and they also last 7 days longer once/if you decide to undelegate.

I may get ready for this endeavour in February.

Btw, I took a quick look at your account, try posting into communities more, especially the splinterlands one since you post about the game a lot, it might be better for your visibility.

After being 'obsessed' with Splinterlands for a while, now I try to kind of take a bit of space and delegate/rent/automatize stuff in order to have some extra free time. Trying to keep the wife happy, and staying and working 10-12 hours online is not the right way. :)

Great development plans I hope they can take effect as soon as possible. Hiving content creators who mean business will be a game change I hope you can get that DHF support.

I acid!
I guess you know I'm a big fan of posh and what you are doing with it!
Saying that, I have a question to you.
It's not the first time I read from you something like this, that I agree 200%

Most importantly we want to keep everything transparent in terms of costs and transactions

Do you have any opinion on this in particular and all Valueplan's distribution in general?

(This is not a post promotion!!!)

https://peakd.com/dhf/@doze/more-transparency-please

They've said there's a transparency report coming up but is delayed, I think it's probably best to wait until after to discuss it more in depth

Yeah..

:) nice list! good luck with all of that! and I just know hive will have a great 2023.

Communities have enjoyed the extra boost by what I have noticed with OCD assistance.

On-boarding still hear a couple of complaints where people arrive to be downvoted which is never pleasant nor welcoming not knowing the platform perhaps more to be done.

Will look at Reddit once again, not even sure my account exists after neglecting for many years now.

Communities going in as a region helps, unfortunately some were set up years ago no longer have original owners available, no longer able to use in the manner it was meant which is a negative.

And this is true for the Hive community members too. User retention is a very big problem on the Hive blockchain. Many people disappear from the platform after a short time (after a few weeks or a few months). Not many people are active years after the registration. Only a few people are active on the platform consistently and in long term. And even more people stop being active on the platform in the bear markets.

What's the story behind new people getting downvoted? Surely not for no reason?

Sorry, don't know the reason well enough to expand. Suggested to see whether same individual is downvoting more members in that community, to get their admin to check.

Good job, I hope your suggestions are all taken into account!

Keep up the great work! I remain supportive👍
