It's been a while! We've been idle for few weeks. Took a quick break to strengthen our flower services and improve our arrangements. We're prepping up early for the coming Mother's day!

Firstly, what is Foliage?

In botany kingdom, the term foliage means to either a collective canopy of leaves made up of many other plants, or an individual tree or plant's grouping of leaves.

Basically, foliage is simply a grouping of leaves. Unlike the canopy plant, which has the upper top layer of a plant's foliage, the word foliage is used to derived the entire plant's leaves and its leaf growth.

A plant foliage grows to its fullest during its vegetative stage.

How To Keep Your Foliage Healthy?

Check before bringing the plant at home

It's a common mistake people usually commit when they assume that their interior foliage provider only has healthy plants. As a result, they don’t take the time to inspect the overall condition of the plants they are buying or bringing in their houses. This is a mistake that you must need to avoid. Before buying a plant from your supplier, be sure to check it for signs of poor condition or occurring of pests. You have to make sure that the dracaena you want to bring home is in good health and good shape. The last thing you should avoid is bringing home a diseased plant that might end up dying or infecting your other healthy plants.

Don’t place your houseplants in the most inconvenient spots

When taking care of your houseplants, it is very essential that you avoid placing them in troubled areas, such as near the heat or air conditioning ducts, on a radiator or near your t.v and even near between the curtains or a frosty curtains. When plants get stress they start to weaken and eventually die. Make it a habit to understand the recommended environment for a plant before buying it. It is also beneficial that you spend some time to understand the maintenance needs of a plant too.

Make sure your plants get enough sunlight

Plants do really need sunlight for the process of photosynthesis. This is the process where plants make their own food. The light they need vary from one plant to another. Some plants will require much sunlight than the rest. Ensure your plants that you'll place them near an area where they can get sufficient sunlight. You can even make use of artificial growing lights. If your room does not receive enough sunlight, choose a plant that can survive in low light.

Plants need enough humidity

The plants that you get from a plantscaper suppliers can help with humidity control, of course, need sufficient humidity to survive. If the air is too dry with less moist, you might find your plant’s health weakening. Take note, that the air can be quite dry in winter because of the heated air. It can only provide a little humidity with humidifiers, grouping plants together or using pebble trays and some misting can save and improve your plant's health.

Plant in a clean soil

Last but definitely not the least, you need to plant your office foliage in a clean or sterile soil. The best thing about doing this practice is that you can minimize the fungus problems and other soil-borne diseases that are lurking near the unhealthy soil. You must also never use too much fertilizer, it might damage your plants as well! Just remember, be a responsible plant owner!
