Chocolate plants are native to the Americas, precisely at the foot of the Andes mountain in the basin of the Amazon and Orinoco, South America. However, chocolate plants probably once widespread to Central America.

The original name of this plant is KAKAO. Chocolate plant is one of the plantation commodities that have high economic value. brown plant is a fruit plant producing chocolate seeds that became the main raw material for making chocolate. The figure of this chocolate plant has advantages which include plants that are able to bear fruit throughout the year. Chocolate fruit is round and slightly elongated, yellow when ready to harvest. Chocolate fruit itself has a very bitter taste when directly eating directly.

Chocolate plants grow in hot tropical climatic conditions, generally in the latitude range of 20 degrees from the equator. The fruit of chocolate plants do not recognize the season, the tree is fruitful and can be harvested throughout the year. The most common pests are the insects of the Miridae family and the fungi of the Phytophtora genus.
