Dragons are a very unique splinter to play in Splinterlands. Rather than sticking to units of a single splinter, when you select Dragons you can select another splinter to work with Dragons. So lets said you select Dragons and then Water, it means you can use both Dragons and Water units in your battle setup. This is a very powerful arrangement as it gives you far more flexibility in selecting your units.
Dragons have many powerful summoners and monsters. Most of them needs a lot of mana to summon which is why for much of the time, Dragon are usually used in higher mana matches. However in this post I will talk about the few low mana Dragon units and how it works well with Dragon summoner, Quix the Devious.
The low mana Dragon units that I will be focusing here is Dhampir Infiltrator (4 mana) and Naga Assassin (2 mana). Their stats are shown below:
Below are the details of a Modern ranked match I had using the Dragon summoner Quix with Naga Assassin and Dhampir Infiltrator in the lineup. The battle restriction is:
Weak Magic ruleset with a max mana limit of 17.

TEAM SETUP:

| Dhampir Infiltrator | 4 | 4th | Dhampir Infiltrator's Double Strike is my main DPS in the lineup. I need it to quickly kill off the opponent's backline before my frontline collapse. |
| Naga Assassin | 2 | 5th | My back tank. Very fast unit with Backfire. I am expecting enemy sneak unit so hoping its backfire can trigger. |

Lineup:
My opponent used a Fire lineup using Tarsa with Antoid Platoon as the tank. This could post a problem as Antoid Platoon has Shield. There is also 2 enemy sneak units vs me only having one. Let see how it went.
End of Round 1:
First my Quix reduced the speed of the enemy units making them even slower than its already slow speed. My units then proceed to hit their front and back units. My back tank also dodge both the enemy sneak attacks and dealt 2 damage back each time. So far so good.
End of Round 2:
By the end of Round 2, the opponent had lost one of its sneak unit and the remaining is dying as well. It is apparent at this point I am winning as the opponent tank also is dying to my Venari Wavesmith's magic attack.
End of Round 3:
All the enemy sneak units had been eliminated by the end of Round 3 and the enemy tank is left with just 1 health point. I initially expected at this point my 2 cannon fodder would be gone but only one was taken out.
End of Round 4:
My opponent didn't has a chance to do any damage as I proceed to kill off the remaining enemy units. Easy win with a bit of luck.
KEY STRATEGY
My strategy in this Weak Magic ruleset using Speed to win the match. Quix -1 speed would help my Naga Assassin have a higher chance of dodging incoming sneak attack with its already high speed. It will also allow my Dhampir Infilitrator have a higher chance of hitting first. But to have a higher chance of succeeding, I need to give these 2 units some protection and I used Venari Wavesmith for the job.
CONCLUSION
Dragon is a very powerful splinter with lots of powerful units. In certain low mana matches, you can still use Dragon units for battle as their low mana units are also very powerful.
