Yesterday, our wedding anniversary, brought us home from visiting our children for Christmas (well, three of the four). When we were half way driving home, we got a phone call from our pastor telling us to not come home until the next day (which is today), since they haven't fixed our water yet. (My husband is the associate pastor, so the house we live in is owned by the church).
I said we were already half way home since we left earlier that morning and would continue on back. We stopped home to drop off some things and repack an overnight bag to stay in a hotel.
Today is the "plumbing party" to fix the pipes that froze and broke at our house and at the church, which also had a frozen pipe break. At least the pastor's house is ok.
We live next door to the church, the pastor lives across the street from the church, so he was able to keep an eye on everything and turn off the water to both properties when he saw water flowing out from underneath the buildings. It appears both were outside (ours under the house, the church an outside hook up).
We are hoping it is only in the ONE place found and not elsewhere. If so, it shouldn't be long before we finally have our water running again (which will be great so I can get the laundry done from our trip).
That is terrible. We haven't had that kind of cold here yet, but I know some parts in the US were greatly affected. I hope it gets fixed as having water is key.
I see you posted this on your blog. I can suggest Daily Blog for this type of topics if you like, in the future. You can use the community for posts about your day.
Nice tip! I'd never hear of Daily Blog. Much appreciated.
It did get fixed yesterday!
The sad thing is we live in south Texas. This is not the typical type of weather we get.
