I have been reading two of Tom Coxs brilliant books recently The Villager and Notebook. The latter has inspired me to return to keeping a journal of some kind, to write down ideas, inspirations and things that amuse or educate me. To share them with you, to stimulate some conversations amongst us all.
It’s not Christmas yet
I recommend travelling to a different hemisphere in the run up to Christmas for a nimber of reasons.
First of all, vitamin D - we have a lack of it in the UK whereas in Mexico you can quite literally overdose on it. It doesn’t feel like November, feels like how an August should be. However it does rain, oh my lord the rain can be torrential- hardly surprising for a rainforest covered state.
Secondly, there’s not a whiff of Christmas! I am fully expecting to get off rhe plane Wednesday morning and be smacked in the face by it.

For a next trip, try to do it at the end of April, beginning of May, it's the best season: very little rain, but quite humid, it's low season and you can find good prices!
Thanks for the tip! Shall bear that in mind ☺️
The stairs look very Mexican. Yeah, get ready to be smacked in the face with Christmas cheer! I bought a coffee the other day (Nov 1st) and was already wrapped in Santa Claus!
This hotel is all pastel colours and very calming. We love it and want to return sometime.
