Just paid out, and writing up the announcement post now.
Good game, mate. SSF is a funny one. When I first announced, I wanted SSF, but people found it wasn't an option (until they'd rescued the Scion.)
I changed the rules to drop the requirement, then when the league started and I fired up my first character, SSF was selectable.
By then, the competition had started.

Yeah it would be way better to play SSF, makes it way more interesting. It is easy to trade great items when not on SSF, and I've seen some players offering to help anyone beat the final boss for 2chaos orbs, insane :) I had two chaos orbs but I felt that would be like cheating, so I went in solo and died like a hero. Still I had to make my revenge and I killed the final boss with my Heirophant.
Is SSF selectable immediately in a new league? The friends who downloaded the game didn't have the option. Or is it only fresh downloads which can't select it. (If so, I'll just need to make it a prerequisite that SSF is available on one's account).
I certainly want it to be as fair as possible.
Yes it was selectable for me. It's ok, next time we will all use SSF.
