Bleeding Hearts

in #poem6 years ago

She made him her world, chased him to its ends.
She wove him a song, its rhythm was love.
She gave her soul and he ate her whole.
She was the sheep, he the big bad wolf.

She wept, she begged, that he would save her heart
But how can a beast such as him with no heart
Be able to save another’s fragile heart?
The tale of beauty, now hear the beast’s part.

He saw that she loved and knew she was wrong.
So he ran but she chased, the hunter and prey.
He heard her profess in a song soaked in love.
But deep down he knew such love could not be.

He was cold, he was hard, he wanted her gone.
But what else could he do? The beast that he was.
No one would agree his love was much purer,
For how could he let love, when he loved another?

Her heart beats for him, now it bleeds for him.
His heart bleeds for her, beats for someone else.
