THE GIANT PANDA BEAR
The beautiful Giant Panda Bear
Lives in China in fresh mountain air.
They inhabit the thick forests of bamboo,
Eating and munching away they chew.
Consuming up to twelve kilograms a day,
They sit and they chew, up to twelve hours stay.
They are omnivores and eat other things,
But ninety nine percent of their diet bamboo brings.
A baby panda is born pink.
Fifteen centimeters long – cute as a wink.
From this tiny size,
They don’t open their eyes.
They get to about six or eight weeks,
Then they get their first little peeks.
The mother bear has one cub or two,
At eighteen months old they're off, adventure anew.
A panda can grow up to one and a half meters long,
And no doubt they are very strong.
Their weight in kilograms up to one thirty five,
It’s amazing to see how bamboo makes them thrive.
They do not hibernate like other bears.
They move down the mountain and more bamboo shares.
In captivity they live thirty years,
In the wild there are many fears.
Only around a thousand remain.
Endangered they are so we need to campaign.
To save these beautiful wonderful bears,
And share this world, it’s also theirs.
