Heavens Gates

This is the part of life that is never easy;
Never easy. In these moments we
Find out just how much our hearts can take.
We are challenged by life, by the lord to stand;
Stand strong while being asked
To keep moving forward.
In this moment I am numbed;
Numbed by the memories in which
Would have never been possible without you.
With every beat, I bleed with pain;
A pain so real that every breath feels
Like the weight of the world Lay's to rest upon
My chest tonight.
Logically, I know you are up there;
Up there with the rest of the family
Who has been waiting for your return to them.
I should take that as a blessing;
A blessing for you are no longer in pain,
No longer heavy upon the chest for you are at ease.
Where there is loss there is gain, that showed here
Today.
Putting you to rest brought this family a little bit closer;
Closer than we have ever been.
It was a rough start, yet when it came time
To lay you to rest, we were a family.
With all differences aside we came together;
Together holding the love of your life
Up while trying to make this the easiest
Day possibly for her.
She is ok papa, we've got the love of your
Life now. She will be loved to the best of
Our ability until such time she is
Ready to join you at the gates of heaven.
None of us can take;
Take away the empty pain
She feels for you. However I promise
When she breaks down we will be there;
There to pick her up, to remind her of your
Love that expanded over seventy plus years.
All I ask is that you stop in;
Stop in just to Whisper to
Her upon her sleep, tell her it's
Ok to hurt but reassure her that you will
Be waiting for her upon the gates of heaven
When she is ready. We've;
We've got the rest papa. Rest with ease.

Sorry for the loss of your grandfather. The poem is powerful and moved me very much.

@kenny-crane
Thank you for your comment. It has been some time since I have written anything, so I am glad it shows power and is moving. My grandfather played a big role in my life and I wanted that to be reflected.
