Religion

in #poetry7 years ago

The religions of the people,
with, or without God,
sometimes, makes me uneasy,
as in my mind they try to prod.

The Christian is always feeling guilty.
For the atheist it's never so.
Although they both put their faith
in that, which they think they know.

Christians put their trust
in a God that can never fail.
Atheists put their trust
in science, their holy grail

Christians always tell you,
"Repent, or burn in Hell, forever!".
Atheists will always say,
"God does not exist, and has never!".

It doesn't matter either way,
whether there's a God or not.
But it's ok to keep your faith,
if your faith is all you've got.

If it helps you through the day
and you need to tell the world,
then let it out, I'll listen in,
and my mind will stay comfortably furled.

For there's no need to argue here,
as the argument would get heated.
Both religions are based on faith,
and neither can be defeated.

You can't prove there is no God.
You can't deny the Christian way.
You can't prove a negative,
that's what the atheists say.

As they both advance the fight,
you can hear the huffing, and puffing.
And since defeat is not the goal,
I would just prefer to say nothing.

How about other ways? Buddhism, for example, with its non-theistic approach?

Good point. They all seem to have a heavy religious touch and religion only seems to work through indoctrination. But on a philosophical level, I tend to lean towards Taoism.

I would say religion is blend of indoctrination, societal imposition and philosophy.

Yes, Taoism is indeed intelectually compeling in at least some ways. And yet, even Taoism have its religious form, i.e. there are Taoist priests, Taoist temples etc.

Yes, that's true enough.

Indeed, dispute on religion has no end. You made a very wonderful poem 😊
