When the last teardrop felt nothing but numbness
The last fight we had was fought with nothing but silence
Static and numbness radiating from our bodies.
It went out like a flame
When the last promise was broken
The last kiss faded from my lips
And the remaining smell of you on my bedsheets was replaced by another man.
Tell me. What did you accomplish?
When you let go of something that kept you awake at night.
Was it worth it?
For me, it wasn't.
But that is just how it works doesn't it
Like clock-work.
Minutes replaced by minutes
As the handles never stop moving
Nothing is meant to stay forever, eroding slowly day by day.
But people like me we stay believing
That we could defy that principle.
Stop time for a little, hold the handles in place
Just so we could keep that moment that once belonged to us, just a little bit
Longer.
