But I remember how you end -
Twirling in the sand
like you once twirled in my arms,
Licking salt off the mountainside
like you once did to my hipsides,
Draping Willow tree's tendrils over your face
like you once bathed in the nest of my hair,
And your last laughing fit with the wind -
It still echoes in my dreams,
reminding me of the time we laughed so hard
that the mattress shook and roared in harmony.
You end by making love to the earth,
through twirling and licking and draping and laughing.
A lovemaking so intense that you melt into her,
screaming "Yes!" to the total union of bodies in love.
And so your spirit expands into the water and 4 directions and marble caves,
and your body
mycelium network and redwood roots and underground spring.
This is a story of your destruction
And of slowly coming home.
Day 16 Poetry Challenge :: Go watch the sunset today, from your roof, the top of a parking lot, on a hill, on the coast, wherever, and write a poem.
Woow...
Beautiful poerty...
Thank you @anwenbaumeister🤝
Nice!
This is different, dear Anwen @anwenbaumeister, more sensual and wilder, somehow. It's good to be surprised... keeps (this) reader on their toes. Here's what the sunset said to me:
Start, again
Sunset is a gentle master to all that are stricken
patiently, teaching us how to melt a bruise away
Watch how, with a silver whisk, that cracked egg
of a setting sun is majestically stirred, and put to rest.
Violent violet, pining pink, and yelling yellow
all agitated, then muted, their differences reconciled
until all that remains is a faint tattoo of quiet hurt
pearlescent wisps of smoke from a sighing flame
that night stealthily smothers and hushes away.
I like the way you wrote the post @anwenbaumeister :))
