I wrote a lot of poetry back during my undergrad days, but once I found that I enjoyed doing fiction more, I never picked it back up (despite filling a huge notebook with well-transcribed versions along with accompanying images). Since Steemit seems to have a thriving (and growing) poetry community, I thought I'd add a little fuel to that particular fire. I hope you enjoy :)
She wears her curves
In a way the sun envies...
Backlit by a new day,
A ghostly outline framing
The subject of the finest nude,
Made of character and lovely
Leaving her taste in the pillows
For days ever after
So that I may still have her,
Although each day a little less,
Each morning.
The sheets barely cover
Cream colored skin,
Dew-kissed from within
By a heady flushing of cheeks
As if she were Eve’s first thoughts
Upon the fig leaf she was missing.
I paint with finger along her thighs,
Tracing every lick of derma,
Goosebumps rising in my wake
Atop a satin terra firma.
