Kasisinag pa nga lang ng araw,
Sa dalampasigan na ako nakatanaw
Hindi ko alam kung anong meron doon
Na para bang hinihila ako papalapit hanggang alon
Mga paa ko’y kusang naglalakad
Hanggang sa dalampasigan ako ay napadpad
Sa tubig-bughaw agad napako ang tingin
Habang ramdam ang bawat paghaplos ng hangin
Tinig mo ba ang aking naririnig?
Na sa aking puso ay lubos na kumakabig
Ninais ko mang ang pagtulo ay pigilan,
Pero luha’y biglang nanatak nang tuluyan
Walang mga bisig na sa aki’y kumanlong
Walang mga tinig na sa aki’y bumulong,
“Tumahan ka na’t mga labi’y pangitiin”
“Lumbay sa puso mo’y tuluyang waksiin”
Sana’y ganoon lang kadaling burahin sa isip
Mga nagdaang suyuang sa hangi’y inihip
Subalit tulad ng isang hugis na sa bato’y inukit,
Sa puso ko na nananahan ang mga sandaling sinapit
“Maaari bang sumunod sa iyo sa paraiso?”,
Bulong ko sa hangin nang tumatangis lalo
Mga binti’y nanghihina’t katawa’y namamanhid
Ngunit tumayo’t sa tubig lumusong nang walang patid
Nalunod ako sa laot ng kapighatian
Walang ibang nakapalibot kundi kadiliman
Buong akala ko'y tayo na'y magkakapiling
Pero 'di ka maaninag na tila mata'y nakapiring
Nang nabuksan ko ang aking mga mata
Liwanag ng mukha niya ang aking nakita
"Ito ba ang nais mong magkaroon ako?"
Ang mapalitan ang lugar mo sa aking puso?"
Mga mata ko'y muling ipinikit
Nagbabaka-sakaling maghihilom ang sakit
At sa muling pagdilat nito,
Nagkaroon ng bagong kulay ang aking mundo
Nakaahon ako mula sa tubig
Paghihirap doo'y 'di na mas lumawig
Sa humawak ng aking mga kamay
Sana'y hawakan mo ito nang wagas at tunay
Sana'y sa muli kong pagbalik sa dalampasigan
Ang pagtangis ko'y dulot na ng kasiyahan
Sabay nating silayan ang araw na sumikat
Hanggang sa magkubli nang puso'y sa pagsinta'y mulat
