Introduction

Hey everyone! We've made it to Day 78 on the 100 Day Poetic Journey. A little more than three weeks remains. Week 12 (out of 14) officially began at 6 PM GMT on May 23rd. I made a basic spreadsheet showing the calendar dates for each day of the challenge, as well as when weeks begin, if you'd like to reference it. The final "week" has two extra days in it since 100 does not go into 7 evenly.

Comments and Weekly Finds

Please comment the results of your Week 11 Assignment on this post. Here's a reminder for what it needs to contain (structured however you prefer):

  1. The names of the two poets to whom you were assigned to leave impressions.
  2. Links to the poems you chose to leave them feedback on.
  3. A link to your "Weekly Find," which is one poem by anyone in the challenge in the past week you found notable.

If you'd like to get a poem of yours critiqued live during our Critique Thursday session you should DM Guy (Thunder_God#4441) on Discord the links to feedback you left in the past week and a poem of yours you want detailed feedback on by the Wednesday before. (It must be 250 words or less due to time constraints.) Even if you can't attend class you can get a piece reviewed because there will be an audio recording of the class for you to listen to at your leisure.

Assignments for Week 12

The next assignments are listed below. Note for those that use a smartphone to access Steemit: you may only be able to see one column in the table. Please log in using a computer to view both of your assignments. Every week I use a different method to pair people up. As a result, there's some overlap from previous assignments, so if you have the same person as you've had before, it's not an error.

Week 12 Assignments

Class Schedule Reminder

The days for poetry class are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Mondays we look at various published poets from different time periods, from classic to modern to contemporary. On Wednesdays we have flexible sessions where we can share our poetry or hold discussions on various topics related to the arts. Thursdays remain our Critique Sessions led by @geekorner.

The time for all of the classes is the same as before: 5-7 PM UTC in the Steem Schools Live Class section of the Discord. Please join when you can, and let anyone interested know they are welcome to participate!

Recap

Please comment the results of your Week 11 Assignments and Weekly Find on this post, even if you already left the comment somewhere else. Read the directions at the top if you need a reminder on the relevant info to be included. Please check your assignments for Week 12 which you will have one week to complete. (You will leave the results of that assignment on next week's update on Day 85.)

Send links to your feedback to Guy (Thunder_God#4441) on Discord if you would like your poem (250 words or less) critiqued in our live sessions. The deadline to be included in the critique class is Wednesday at noon (UTC) the day before. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

My assigned poets for week 11 were @hazem91 and @hartfloe

Here are my critiques on their work respectively:

Hardship and Ease

Scales

Contrary to Popular BeliefThe poem I chose to highlight this week was by @theverve called

The main reason I chose this poem was more personal than anything else. As most of you know my husband passed away about 7 months ago. The following stanza has renewed my hope and really helped me look at my life through a new lens.

Contrary to popular belief
It's not every time
That you find yourself alone
You've been dumped
Helpless and alone
Perhaps you've been planted
Bloom

This is how I have come to view this whole challenge and all the connections I have made and poems I’ve read. This community is helping me to bloom. You have no idea how much it means to me. Thank you deeply.

My two people were
@ayahkasih @whack.science

I chose OUT OF THE BLUESDance forever / Plesati zauvijek
from @ayahkasih ’s blog & from @whack.science ’s blog

My find of the week was Impatient Resolve by @d-pend

The first part is especially fun as it is 3 poems in one … all in all it is a soft poem about longing in my opinion but also a distancing of that longing in a world where it might never be fulfilled and one is not even sure one wants it to be anymore …

P.S Wow there are only 26 of us left :O

There are more people left who opted out of the comment-giving segment.

oh bloody yay for them then :P ...

The two poets assigned were @zeleiracordero and @sansoncarrasco

These are the comments that I left in the poems

(Day 75) Everything has been consumed
1st). @zeleiracordero https://steemit.com/poetry/@zeleiracordero/everything-has-been-consummated-todo-has-consumed-challenge-of-100-days-of-poetry-day-75

(Day 77) NO COUNTRY FOR YOUNG MEN
2nd) @sansoncarrasco https://steemit.com/steemitschoolpoetry/@sansoncarrasco/ssp-100-days-challenge-day-77-no-country-for-young-men

The most outstanding poem I read was written for a female teacher. I like it when people are valued in their work. @mineopoly, Violet Med https://steemit.com/writing/@mineopoly/violet-med

This is the correct link to @zeleiracordero's poem.

Day 73 @ehisora's poem it talks about the exploits of African hunters

The African hunter

https://steemit.com/poetry/@ehisoria/day-73-seventy-three-the-african-hunter

This one is by @ty2nicerva Day 71 and it's titled sunken place.

The allusion in the poem is amazing and the fact that it has this rap feature to it is splendid.

Pick of the week.

This was by @blessedben titled we have come again.

It's a poem what massive creativity the imageries captured my attention, he's an amazing writer

https://steemit.com/poetry/@blessedben/we-have-come-again-sspc-73

Whoah...thank you so much @josediccus for considering my poem as your pick of the week. Thank you for your kind words too. They are indeed encouraging. I have learnt a lot from you. Thank you.

Greetings again! Here's the overview of my weekly assignment:

My Kryptonite.
It's heartwarming and relatable. You should have a read!First one was a poem by @mrbreeziewrites that he wrote to the love of his life. It is called -

It is called - I don't give up.Second was an encouraging poem by @sammynathaniels telling you to be who you are and stand your ground!

here.
It is called - "Saparate and Co-Create" and if you haven't read it yet - go ahead and do it now.The poem I found out randomly was one written by @hartfloe and is found

Another week of poetry in my life thanks to you guys and girls!
Peace, Love, Gratitude!

I can't get over your profile picture @spellmaker, but I guess you could say the same about me.

Last week, I was assigned to @spellmaker and @mrbreeziewrites

I commented on Spark of the universal mind by @spellmaker

I also commented on
The Vow by @mrbreeziewrites

I read his poem; We were once slaves. Here, he uses the slavery era dictions, to explain how our past enslaves us to things, enslaves him too, to things.
I choose this as my weekly find.Throughout the previous week, I made several visits to @rexdickson's blog and I was impressed at his decent and effective use of words to create imagery and even build stories in some of his poems too.

I encourage everyone to keep on 'inking', as we walk into the last 22 days.

Cheers.

This poem is such a treasure, very tender and moving.

Well done everyone xxHey @d-pend, my 2 poets were @skodie and @mamadini @skodie has not written any poems recently, since 10 days ago so I couldn't do one from him as I know it is meant to be from the last week. For @mamadini I chose, Forever You https://steemit.com/poetry/@mamadini/forever-you-day-73-of-100-poetry-challenge My weekly find was 'Separate and Co-Create' by the excellent @hartfloe https://steemit.com/steemitschoolpoetry/@hartfloe/separate-and-co-create-100-day-poetry-contest-day-75

Hi everyone!

My two assigned poets for week 11 were @marlyncabrera and @dmilliz

I left extended comments on this poems:

My weekly find is "Sanctuary" by @firststeps (A message of hope in desperate times).

it's another great week greetings everyone
feed the greed My assigned poets were First @ty2cynerva I really enjoyed his poetry

YONDER PLACEAlso @Josediccus...

kryptonite My weekly find is @mrbreeziewrites..

Hello, I made it back in time to post here and look at my new weeks threads and words.

Here are my feelings on a wonderful piece from @trucklife-family: https://steemit.com/steemitschoolpoetry/@mamadini/re-trucklife-family-to-be-adored-100-days-of-poetry-challenge-day-seventy-two-20180520t182435308z

@Skodie did not post during the week.

Okay, I have a question here. Is there a list of everyone still in the challenge that I may have as wide of a pool as possible to post a weekly favorite from?

Any weekly find? :3

Until I can get a full list of those that are still in the challenge (I've asked many times in different places), NO! It's not fair to just have the list of those participating in the critique as that only reflects a few. I have done everything that has been asked of me until this and I’m not going to highlight a weekly poem until I have a proper list, that is not asking too much, or is it?

I find it funny that you are asking this in public as we've talked about this in private (more than once), of which you seem to not have the list and I had already asked Daniel in a DM of which there has been no reply, so, unless I am missing something, or am being completely dense, I cannot with ease find the full list. It seems rather strange for you to do this, Guy!!!
::Slaps you::

I'm keeping track of who posted the weekly stuff. I asked you if you do have a weekly find, that's it.

I've relayed your wish to Daniel as well, even before you made this comment.
And you've never mentioned to me you won't do the weekly find, just your annoyance with there not being a list.

As such, I find it rather strange for you to object over me asking of things you did not say before, and which are, as you noted, outside my control.
I don't see anything strange on my end.

You asking me for something in public that I have already told you in private I was not going to provide until I have a full list to work from is strangely passive aggressive (imo).

In fact, I did say I was going to wait for the list, this stance has not changed, in public, or private, whether or not you recall.

If you want a villain, I am glad to play that for you!

Good day fellow poets. ( still feels strange to call myself a poet:)
Last week I critiqued
Red Giant
by @corderosiete . This one caught me off guard but once I got the full understanding it was like two poems in one.

Also I critiqued Now that I am sea water by @zeleiracordero . This was a very deep piece that showed emotions of sorrow and despair while at the same time taking you int another realm under the sea. Very interesting

Find of the week was Ruin and Hope by @acusticstevo . The emotions he reveals in this poem are real and that is what I admire about his poetry.

Thanks for picking my piece. 😎

No problem man. Keep on pouring out those emotions

This is the correct link to your comment on @corderosiete's poem. For some reason, your link didn't work.

Thanks I fixed the link. Apparently there was an extra bracket in the code;)

Sorry I'm late, I was assigned to @hartfloe and @rexdickson and I commented on their post.

Lies tie by hartfloe

And Irony of life by @rexdickson

Lies tieWeekly find goes to @hartfloe

Great work from you @steempoetry, I really have interest in (a bad but true poem) by @tygertyger. Thanks

Should I be worried that my worst poems find such appeal @_@

This has really come this far.....week 12 already. This is really good @d-pend . Thank you so much for this opportunity to be creative and learning team work too in the respect of the pairing .

Good job, I hope to participate soon, greetings.

Hello fab friend @d-pend. I hope I'm not late for this..I have been occupied woth some real life stuffs that took me away from steemit.
